Richard F. Stone  -  Q & A

Q Who  were you influenced by?
A   Derain, Monet, early Mondrian, Hopper, Soulage.

Q   You frequently change style.  Why?
A   Because I am always searching and experimenting, but within the confines of my “handwriting”.

Q   Do you make preliminary drawings, etc?
A   No, I like to work out ideas in my head except for color.

Q   Why do you work in acrylic?
A   It’s faster.  It gives immediate satisfaction. My kind of work and personality requires this.

Q   Do you have a philosophy?
A   No, my philosophy, if you want to call it that, is in the painting, and then it’s up to the viewer.  I detest the gibberish of “art speak”.
